Background

BCA were the first new core contract in 2013 which started with 5 sites but has increased to 12 sites and annual revenue of £2m per annum. BCA have since purchased We Buy Any Car which has a further 440 locations across the UK. SGS is responsible for key holding support in all WEBAC locations on the instruction of Paul Hargrave (Group Security Manager). SGS have signed an additional three-year contract in January 2016 based on performances across the portfolio.

Challenges

Working with on BCA site been very smooth and we faced no issues in providing the services and developed a very effective plans that were implemented to best meet the requirements but during this year we had seen an increased volume in security within British Car Auction sites.

When necessary SGS provides extra resource, especially at the busy periods of the year such as Special events organised by BCA which are back to back requiring a very fast turn-around. The SGS team have been trained to the highest standard and fully understand this fast paced environment and can adapt and overcome any challenges they may face.

Costs for this service had risen and BCA asked if we could offer solutions to assist with increased costs but without risk to the business.
Outcome:

From day one SGS have taken a hands on approach to managing the site with a Key Mobilization team employed to implement change and innovation and deliver an instant improvement in standards.

Working with our technology division and remote monitoring center we were able to offer a wireless solution for the larger BCA sites.

This would increase visibility through technology but add savings through wireless technology in areas where officers were deployed due to risk.

Through our remote monitoring center any activation was reported to our on-site teams within seconds who were deployed to the specific area of activation. This not only allowed savings through additional manpower but provided BCA with a high level of technology innovation area of activation in vulnerable areas’.

Savings per month to BCA: £4,000 – £6,000 dependent on size of specific sites.

Although Volume and value have continued to grow and more officers deployed, savings are in place and will continue to allow BCA to invest more in their security department.
