Q&A from the International Security Expo

Q&A from the International Security Expo

Did you attend the International Security Expo in London last week?

If you did, you’ll know what a great opportunity it is to network with people in our industry, and find out about the latest trends and innovations.

As a business, we’re always looking for new ideas to improve the security of your operations, keep your people safe and build resilience. That’s why we go to the Expo.

We want to keep ahead of the curve, and equally importantly, we want to meet people like you face to face. It gives us a chance to find out about the challenges you’re facing with security and resilience in your business and think about how we can best support you.

We learned a lot from our conversations this year! We thought we’d share with you a few of the questions we were asked, and a summary of our answers.

How can we protect lone workers or people in our care who are often alone?

Whether you’re protecting lone workers, or offering students an extra safety measure when they’re away from home for the first time, you need a discreet tool to keep them safe.

A specialist app can help you here. Nobody is without their phone these days and an app like Mi Sentinel SOS gives them a simple, handy way to feel reassured when they’re alone. It uses GMS tracking so you know where they are if they sound the alarm, and they can record incidents discreetly without escalating any danger.

We need a quick and safe way to vet new recruits. What options do you suggest?

If you need to screen and vet potential recruits, you’ll need a system that can do this quickly, and retain personal details on a safe, secure GDPR-compliant platform.

There’s software available for that. We use MiPeople, which is a cloud-based system. You can upload the relevant documentation on there and it will screen your candidates. You can issue contracts and T&Cs directly from the platform.

We have multiple workers out on different locations at any one time. Is there a better way to keep track of everybody?

Scheduling and deploying workers can be a headache for managers. You also need to keep track of their hours and report on their activity. If it is spiralling into a mammoth logistical task for you, try a system like MiSentinel. It tracks the time keeping and time codes and creates instant reports for you with all the information you need.

We’ve moved to a new premises and we need a way to book out our rooms more efficiently. Is there any technology available?

Software like Book My Estate keeps track of the availability of all your meeting rooms for you. Your employees can log onto the system and book out the room as and when they need them

Can you help us with temporary workers?

Yes. With shortages of people in the workforce, it’s becoming more and more difficult to find temporary workers. Particularly in the healthcare industry, there’s a dearth of sufficiently qualified workers available at short notice.

We’ve developed ‘Work Alert’ to find temporary resources for any business. It’s an app that matches your business to the temporary recruits with the skills you need.
