UK Building Society

UK Building Society

From February 2018, we have delivered tailored security services for UK Building Society (the client) to support them to fulfil their duty of care to employees and provide them with security when working in remote locations. Enabling the client so have greater control over their security, we were first engaged by the client as a service partner during the transition to bring their security provision in-house.

Services we deliver

On this contract with the client, we deliver trained frontline security and non-frontline driver services, including:

  • Covering planned and unplanned absence on the portfolio by providing frontline security
  • Recruiting, training and deploying a team of named Officers for core duties, including general security and reception/concierge services at the Head Office and other office sites nationwide
  • Recruiting Officers as a resourcing activity to transfer to direct deployment with the client at a later date
  • Providing a surge capacity team as reserve to support short notice activities and unexpected increases in demand
  • Providing executive security for events such as the the client Annual General Meeting

Overcoming key challenges

To smoothly navigate the key logistical and operational challenges of transitioning a corporate security service from an external provider to an in-house model, we implemented:

  • Managing continuity during the transition: We engaged in collaborative working with the client and the outgoing security provider to facilitate efficient knowledge transfer to our Security Officers. This included comprehensive risk assessments and contingency plans to prevent risks such as unexpected absences or delays in officer training
  • Coordinating large-scale security deployment: To deploy Officers on a large scale across the client’s operational footprint over multiple locations, our dedicated National Operations Centre efficiently conducted scheduling and deployment using our MiSentinel platform. Driving efficiency and safety of workers, MiSentinel facilitates GPS tracking, check-in calls and checkpoint monitoring for all sites

Delivering success

Demonstrating how SGS has established ourselves as a strategic partner in the client’s broader operational framework, we have achieved the following:

  • Offering excellent value for money by keeping the deployment of Officers for contracted hours down to 6%
  • Responding to dynamic operational needs by maintaining and leveraging our 125% capacity reserve teams and intelligent rota planning through the MiSentinel platform

Demonstrating our success in building a strong, collaborative relationship in support of their in-house security model, we received the following feedback from their Security Consultant:

“They are people who understand the issues we have, I like their approach to problems, they work through them and there is no need to escalate any problems. We have good lines of communication with the officers.”

We take processes apart, rethink, rebuild, and deliver them back working smarter than ever before.
